Forward Movement inspires disciples and empowers evangelists. We offer devotions, Bible studies, formation courses, and other resources to equip and support people in their walk with Jesus Christ.

We are widely known for the popular daily devotional Forward Day by Day, which provides daily meditations based on scripture readings from the lectionary. Forward Day by Day is printed for subscribers in Spanish and English—both pocket-size and large print editions. In addition, the daily devotion is available as an ebook or in Braille. We also offer a free podcast and smartphone app (for Apple or Android). In addition, the daily meditation is also available for free, online.

Forward Movement publishes books and courses, both print and online, for use by individuals and congregations. We also offer free resources such as The Good Book Club, a program of church-wide scripture reading and reflection. On occasion we have hosted conferences for lay leaders and clergy. Though based in downtown Cincinnati, Forward Movement’s staff of roughly twenty people is spread across the United States. We welcome suggestions from congregations, readers, and donors about how we can support you, or your church, in your growth as disciples of Jesus.

Forward Movement has been a ministry of the Episcopal Church since 1935. We are financially independent, relying on sales and the generosity of our donors to support our mission and expand our reach. Each year we supply tens of thousands of free copies of printed booklets and books, mostly to prisons, hospitals, nursing homes, and military bases. We invite you to support our ministry of sharing the Good News of Christ around the world by donating online or mailing a check to our office.

Daily Prayer
The Forward Movement staff gathers each morning to pray for one another, the ministry of Forward Movement, the church, the world, and those who have requested prayer. The following prayer from Prayers New and Old, slightly modified over the years, has been in use for seven decades. We invite our readers and supporters to remember Forward Movement in your prayers: 

A Prayer for Forward Movement:
O God, we ask your guidance and blessing for the Forward Movement of your church. Use it, we pray, to open our eyes to your glory and to the opportunities that lie before the church to reach people everywhere with the good news of Christ. Grant that the leaders of Forward Movement may be both wise and daring disciples, and stir up in us the will to share joyfully in this work with our prayers and gifts. Let not our purpose grow slack, that the nations of this world may become one holy people under the kingship of God and of our Lord Jesus Christ. This we ask in His name. Amen.
