Editorial Reviews
It is a challenge to read through the entire Bible. But, it is a challenge that proves to be well worth the effort for those who undertake the challenge. This book, which provides a structure for reading a section from the OT, the Psalter and the NT each day can be a tremendous help in the task. In addition to the structure, the book provides daily meditations and commentaries written by archbishops, bishops, priests and scholars from around the Anglican Communion; from North America, to Australia, England, Wales, Africa, to the Middle East. These meditations and commentaries provide a wide variety of cultural perspectives on the Word of God lived out in the lives of ordinary people. Finally, each day is provided with though-provoking questions regarding the readings for that day.
The format is such that it is amenable for individuals who wish to enjoy the challenge, as well as for small groups who might gather for daily or weekly Bible study. Note that neither the eBook version nor the print version contains the actual Bible verses. While this may prove an inconvenience for some, it does provide the opportunity for people to choose their own favorite translation of the Bible to use with this guide. This can be particularly helpful for small groups who covenant to study the Bible together, each member using a different translation of the Bible.

Handy way to read the whole bible in small pieces. Easy to follow and a good way to start or continue a daily study.

This aid to study the Bible and read it in a year is very well organized. Each day is broken down by Old Testament reading, Psalm and New Testament. I like that each day is written by a different person, so I get a fresh "slant" on what will be read on that day. I enjoy the questions to ponder each day as well as the prayer.

Having read the entire bible before using another program, I find this one far superior. The tied relationship among the Old Testament, Psalms, and New Testament helps the reader see a broader, more complete picture of the lessons being presented. The commentary before each day's reading helps focus the intention of the reading. The questions provided are thoughtful and the daily prayers are welcome. This multifaceted approach is enjoyable for me and I feel I will succeed with this challenge to read the bible in a year. The challenge can be a sole adventure or shared with others.
