I think yesterday's reading from Hebrews (6:1) about "going on" and "leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ" and not "laying again the foundation" convicts me, because I have been enlightened and keep relying on being able to start over with God. I think the aggregate effect of me and my fellow Babble-on-ians is that we have one foot on yesterday, one foot on tomorrow and we're wasting away today, always on the believed assurance that we are going to be forgiven if we repent. But, the commentary which said, "Christianity has blossomed wildly here because life is so hard...." is a very true statement. Whenever life is really easy, like for most of us in the U.S. then we get proud and confident and have no need for God and his salvation.
