Dan,

Yes, I think God was saving us from self-destruction by confusing us, giving us time, and different paths to follow to him. I think yesterday's reading from Hebrews (6:1) about "going on" and "leaving behind the basic teaching about Christ" and not "laying again the foundation" convicts me, because I have been enlightened and keep relying on being able to start over with God. I think the aggregate effect of me and my fellow Babble-on-ians is that we have one foot on yesterday, one foot on tomorrow and we're wasting away today, always on the believed assurance that we are going to be forgiven if we repent. In the mean-time we consume God's abundance that, if shared, would raise all of our sisters and brothers up now. - Steve Doutt

Today's commentary and the Genesis reading.

Today's commentary made me think about the Genesis reading which has always been one of the most confusing and interesting to me. But, the commentary which said, "Christianity has blossomed wildly here because life is so hard...." is a very true statement. Whenever life is really easy, like for most of us in the U.S. then we get proud and confident and have no need for God and his salvation. I'm thinking this is what God was doing for them in this chapter of Genesis; He was saving them from that mindset that they didn't need Him. - Dan
