SATURDAY, July 30

Psalm 27. The Lord is my light and my salvation.

The image of light reverberates in the Bible. “Let there be light,” begins Genesis (1:3). John calls Jesus the  light in John 3:19. “You are the light of the world,” Jesus tells believers in Matthew 5:14. Paul describes his conversion in Acts 26:12-13: “At midday along the road, your Excellency, I saw a light from heaven, brighter than the sun, shining around me and my companions.” At the end time, Revelation 21:23 prophesies that the city will not need “sun or moon to shine on it, for the glory of God is its light, and its lamp is the Lamb.”

Without the light of the Lord, Psalm 107 portrays  the rebellious sitting “in darkness and deep gloom, bound fast in misery and iron.”

I feel the shining presence of our Creator when I walk my dogs early in the morning and notice the breaking of day, during a sunset on the Gulf of Mexico after a violent storm, while watching sunlight pour through the stained glass window onto the altar. Sensing this presence gives me the confidence to agree with the psalm that “though war should rise up against me, yet will I put my trust in him.”

I feel the shining presence of our Creator

Written by Chris,

Thank you Noel for the way you share and witness to us. That's exactly how I feel when I walk my golden retriever each morning. And yes, sensing God's presence gives me confidence through the valleys, to put my trust in Him.
John says it all

Written by Craig,

"in the beginning was the word
And the word was with God.
And the word was God.
Without him was not any made that was made.
In him was light and the light was the life of man."
if you've ever seen Jerusalem turn to gold at sunset or seen the green flash at sea you would never doubt his presence and his power either.
The LightThat Illumines!

Written by emeline,

In the sunny Bahama Isles, whether it's the dawn of a new day or the the ending of the day, the sun sends out a brilliance that illumines the land. This is quite breathtaking. From my window I can savour this brilliance, motivated to start a brand new day. At evening, the setting sun, with its kalidescope of colours, re-inforces the fact that the Creator has blessed us with His radiance. Who better can lay claim to such beauty and wonder than our Father in heaven. Cherish the light. It leads to understanding of God's creation!
