SATURDAY, November 13

Joel 3:9-17. Multitudes, multitudes, in the valley of  decision! For the day of the Lord is near in the valley of decision.

This passage pertains to a day of judgment and a final reckoning. It is immediately applicable to all of us,  every day. We live in the valley of decision. From the highest to the lowest, we are confronted with endless decisions, major and minor. One of the values of a discipline of daily devotion is that it enables us to take a thoughtful look at the decisions we must make and think through our choices in God’s presence, asking  for his wisdom and guidance.

Procrastination is one of our greatest temptations—“I’ll think about that tomorrow.” Tomorrow may not come, but we are in the valley of decision today. (1973)

O blessed Truth, to you I commit this decision, for you know all things, and your will is my peace. Deliver me from the false choices that come from self-interest, cowardice,  and lack of faith in you, and give me vision and strength to do your will.

Written by Lois,

I get frustrated when I feel God isn't helping me and I try to be prayerful. I feel lost and sad. Then I don't want to do my readings. But the lesson today helped me to continue on in my daily devotions. To continue to pray for God's presence and wisdom.
