THURSDAY, September 15

1 Corinthians 2:14—3:15. For we are God’s servants, working together; you are God’s field, God’s building.

Throughout my years as a parish priest, I enjoyed thinking, on a Sunday morning, of all the willing and skilled hands that made our time of worship, learning, and fellowship possible.

From the time I got out of my car and walked across a manicured lawn, usually past trimmed shrubs and flowers, I could think of the people who had done this work. When I opened a door already unlocked and walked into a building already lighted and heated or cooled, and smelled fresh coffee, I thought of others. During the morning, I encountered impeccable altar linen and gleaming communion vessels, heard glorious music, heard scripture read and prayers led, visited with eager children to and from Sunday school classes well taught, and listened to announcements of opportunities to learn and serve and enjoy each other throughout the week. Sometimes our work was to visit the sick, bury the dead, or help with a wedding.

All happened because of many skilled hands and loving hearts freely given for the good of the whole. People were served. God was glorified because many worked together. They still do.

Praise God In Many Ways

Sep 15, 2011 at 5:38 am

Written by emeline,

I recently became a member of our local church's Altar Guild. My first introduction to the preparation of the Altar and the laying out of the Priest's Vestments for the next Service was awe-inspiring! The light went off in my head that I was a part of worship and praise. Like today's Writer, I began to recognize that different people have different talents, and have made sacrifices to make life liveable for us. I began to appreciate the very things that the Writer appreciates. I began to see people in a different light and recognize them for helping me to bring glory to God at my place of worship, at home, at work and in the community at large. Praise and thank God for all these people He has placed in our lives!

Written by Mary Summers Hearn,

Praise God for the Body,
Praise God for the Son;
Praise God for the life
That binds our hearts as one.

Joy is the food we share;
Love is our home, brothers.
Praise God for the body;
Shalom, Shalom.

Guard your circle, brothers,
Clasp your hand in hand;
Satan cannot break
The bond in which we stand.

Joy is the food we share

Love is our home, brothers

Praise God for the Body

Shalom, Shalom

Shed your extra baggage,
Keep your travels light;
Rough will be the battle,
 Tough will be the fight, but...

Joy is the food we share, Love is our home; brothers

Praise God for the Body, Shalom Shalom

Praise God for the body,
Praise God for the Son;
Praise God for the love
That binds our hearts as one.

Joy is the food we share, Love is our home, brothers

Praise God for the Body, Shalom Shalom, Praise God for the Body, Shalom Shalom
