TUESDAY, July 7

Psalm 5:7. I will bow down toward your holy temple in awe of you.

Because much of our time during the initial weeks at our new residence was spent repairing and remodeling, we had hardly noticed the early summer nature display. Worn carpet was removed, walls painted, ceiling fans installed, woodwork cleaned and oiled, old plumbing updated. Little by little a fresh smell replaced the dank odor that takes up residence in a vacant place.

One day in a room toward the back of the house, I paused to notice how our tender, loving care was transforming the house into a home. The glass door in that room was open, with only a screen separating me from the land.

And there was my audience: perhaps a hundred towering trees--oak and ash, cedar and yaupon--standing straight and silent. A slight breeze circulated among them, causing limbs to move like a human wave in an athletic stadium. They seemed delighted that the house they had companioned for thirty-two  years was now the recipient of such love.

I marveled at the splendor of our Creator. The trees and I applauded in awe of the Lord.

Written by miss nikki,

Perfect reminder for me this morning... I have spent the last month in paint shirts and grubs fixing up a new home I didn't want to have to move into. Circumstances lead us to leave a ranch I loved with my whole heart. My anger hadn't let me bow down and love what God has blessed me with. Twenty wooded acres (I've always lived on prarie) and birds that sing songs I've never heard before. Today I leave the paint shirts behind to sit with my dying Grandma and I will again bow down as i remember life she's lived, the lessons she taught, and the kingdom she will join. smilies/kiss.gif

Written by Bob Newman,

I sit in my back yard and notice what God has blessed us with. I feed the birds and squirrels. I give thanks to God for my back yard and my space to enjoy his work.
It is amazing...

Written by Rob Lebby,

It is amazing that God loves us when we don't deserve it or even when we don't love ourselves. I had a house, a yard, a wife (we're separated), and everything that I thought I ever wanted...but I didn't have God. I knew OF God, but I didn't KNOW God. Now the back porch I used to sit on and enjoy God's creation is gone. The house and the yard are gone and I don't often get to talk to my wife. I am reminded that what I need is God as I sit with friends on the patio at a local restaurant enjoying the nature that surrounds our table. As the sun sets, I see wild blackberries that are nearing the time to be picked. I watch as a moth flits around aimlessly in the light. I feel the balmy breeze that is what I image to be a soothing stroke from the hand of God Himself. I miss my wife (and we are committed to being together again, in God's time), but it is in this moment that I know I need God, and He loves me, just as I am, and I get a hug from His Creation.
