What are people saying?
Walk In Love is the perfect introduction into what it means to not only worship as an Episcopalian but to live out the Christian life as an Episcopalian! In informative, easily digestible portions, the authors walk through the Book of Common Prayer, the place of the Bible, the practices of faith, and the structure of the Episcopal Church, connecting them into everyday life. This book should be a staple for newcomers classes, adult forums, and anyone looking to learn more about living life the Episcopal way.
--Derek Olsen, Biblical scholar and author of Inwardly Digest: The Prayer Book as Guide to a Spiritual Life
The most comprehensive, and comprehensible, guide to Episcopal faith and practice available. A perfect book for new comers, long-time members, and anyone in between. (Read the entire review here.)
--Adam Trambley, rector at St John's Episcopal Church, Sharon, PA
In Walk in Love, Scott Gunn and Melody Wilson Shobe do a great job of putting together a rich, comprehensive, and accessible book on the beliefs and practices of the Episcopal Church. Clergy and lay Christian education professionals across the liturgical and theological spectrum will find this book useful in presenting the basics of our common life of faith to newcomers and sixth generation Episcopalians alike.
--Steven J. Pankey, rector at Christ Episcopal Church, Bowling Green, KY
Reverends Melody Schobe and Scott Gunn have delivered a perfect opportunity for people at every stage of their journey into the Episcopal tradition to stop and meditate on the way in which their faith tradition shapes their lives. A newcomer to our practices might read this and be fascinated by how the authors describe the wonderful way our liturgy and beliefs take root in their lives. Someone who has long sat in the pews may reflect and see how they have been affected in a similar way by consistent prayer.
Walk in Love also should provide an opportunity for other Church leaders to reimagine their own liturgical practices and beliefs. Any leader within the Episcopal Church should read this and reflect on how the liturgies and prayers of our tradition have shaped their beliefs and practices. By excavating the depths of our tradition, Gunn and Schobe have also laid bare a reality of Anglicanism. That our sacramental traditions are corporate (shared) but also deeply personal and intimate. Walk in Love serves as a reminder that we are not merely passive pew sitters. We are part of a body of Christ and we are formed by the work we do together. We are formed by liturgy. It is a good and joyful thing to be reminded of the gifts of our common (shared) prayer.

--Stephanie Spellers, Author of The Episcopal Way and Canon to the Presiding Bishop for Evangelism, Reconciliation and Stewardship of Creation
To tell the story, we have to know the story. Whether this story is the narrative of our faith as Episcopalians or our personal witness to the presence of God in our lives, too often many Christians feel uncomfortable and unsure about this great story of God’s love. Melody Shobe and Scott Gunn have written a book that invites us know our story through the life of our prayers, the shape of our beliefs, and our communal relationship with God. Each chapter of Walk in Love: Episcopal Beliefs & Practices also encourages us explore our story of faith with questions for reflection and ideas that empower us to evangelize. Whether you’ve lived with the prayers of the Book of Common Prayer for decades or are just encountering the richness that is the Episcopal faith, this book welcomes us all to know to the story of Christianity in the Episcopal Church and be inspired to share this story.

It is simply WONDERFUL... Refreshing... Written by people who actually believe in Jesus, the sacraments, and the Church! Wow! Also, accessible language!!! So necessary today. An excellent exposition of our Episcopal/Anglican ethos... Deep, yet extremely accessible. It will become a classic!

"Inquirers Class"? (do those still exist?) Adult Confirmation group? My morning project was to do a quick evaluative read of the shiny new Walk in Love by Scott Gunn and Melody Wilson Shobe. YOU WANT THIS BOOK. This is the first such resource I've read that seems to me to presume the audience we actually get now. It understands what people are intuitively drawn to as they enter TEC now; it's readable, happy to convey baseline Christian and Episcopalian stuff rather than its various meta substitutes and Christendom add-ons, and constantly embeds the Bible and the BCP in an unembarrassed way. THANK YOU.
--Beth Maynard, priest in Champaign, IL
Authors and priests Melody Wilson Shobe and Scott Gunn comprehensively reveal the “what and the why” of what we believe and do, in friendly, conversational style. There is familiarity in their explanations, but plenty of “ah-hah” moments as deeper understanding sinks in. Read full review here.

Our adult confirmation class, a mix of generations and faith traditions, enjoyed Walk In Love very much. We have used it for several years and will continue to do so. Thank you for this excellent addition to our library of formation resources.
