WEDNESDAY, February 23

Psalm 130. I wait for the Lord; my soul waits for him; in his word is my hope. My soul waits for the Lord, more than watchmen for the morning.

We traveled back to New Zealand toward a breaking dawn. We flew by night over dark clouds, as dense as sheep’s fleece, but as we peered through the window of the plane, at the edge of the clouds appeared a glowing rim of fire which turned golden, brightening still further as the light of a new day arrived.

As people of faith we journey toward the dawning of a new day. The clouds of worry and concern we experience may be dense. The night may seem long with so many problems besetting us. Yet the scriptures encourage us to wait and to hope, trusting God’s word.

The psalmist cries out from the chaotic depths of the human predicament. The psalmist cries out knowing the need of forgiveness, but also trusting in a God of mercy and great power to restore those who have fallen short. The psalmist waits with great expectation—expectation that, sure as the dawn, there will be an experience of the power of the living, loving God.

The psalmist exhorts, “O Israel, hope in the Lord!” Reader, hope in the Lord.

Written by Mary kier,

This scripture reminded of of a time I'm my life when I had severe depression. I had never had it before and I thought it would never go away. My mother had to move in with me and and she read from the bible every
morning. I lived from one reading to the next. When I heard her reading I would feel a glimmer of hope. When I finally got better and could get back into my life and o feltnee againp
Thank you
