Forward Today: Let us pray…
Dear friends in Christ,

I was talking with a few people recently about the challenge of finding a discipline of prayer that works for us. In this frenetic world, it can seem impossible to find time to pray. I’m sympathetic, but we need to make it work if we are serious about following Jesus.
The key is to find a pattern of prayer that works for you. That may NOT turn out to be what works for someone else. As with starting any good habit—whether for emotional, physical, or spiritual health—the key is to find something at which you can succeed.
Couch potatoes don’t run marathons! First you walk around the block, then you run a 5K, and so on.
If you have a rhythm of daily prayer that works, I encourage you to share it with someone else. Maybe you’ll be the inspiration someone else needs to get started or to regain a daily pattern. And if you’re looking for a pattern, don’t be afraid to ask for help! We all need help sometimes. Speak with a wise friend or your priest about how you can get serious in prayer.
There are no points for long, fancy prayers. A quick word with God when you wake up or just before you sleep will do the trick! What matters is not the form of our prayers, but the focus of our hearts.
Forward Movement has LOADS of ways to help you pray. And so do many other ministries and your local church. But whatever you do, I hope you’ll find time to pray.
Prayer changes the world, one life at a time.
Yours faithfully,

Scott Gunn
Executive Director
