Forward Today: Committed to growth

Dear friends in Christ,

I’m writing this from Yukon, OK, where the Forward Movement board of directors has been meeting this week. We tend to alternate our meetings between Cincinnati and other locations across the church, hoping that we can learn from dioceses and congregations who are doing exemplary work.

Our meeting this week has been hosted by Grace Church in Yukon, a vibrant and growing Episcopal congregation. They are growing both in depth and numbers: a focus on discipleship moves members deeper in following Jesus Christ, and their stronger faith equips them to share the Good News.

Our board is committed to growth in Jesus Christ. We all want to grow as disciples of Jesus, so we spend time in our meetings in prayer and study.

At this meeting, we have talked about all the new work Forward Movement is doing (thanks largely to a major grant) and how to expand our work in a way that maximizes its impact on the church and the world. We discussed our strategic priorities for the next few years as our staff will just about double in size as we grow to meet the needs of the church.

It’s exciting work! And I’m grateful for the faithful leadership of our board, leaders who give their time to guide our strategy and guard our mission.

Look for new offerings from Forward Movement in the coming months and years. And look for growth! You’ll find it in your own heart and in your church when discipleship is the center.

Jesus Church changes the world, one life at a time. I’m thrilled to be doing this work at this moment in the life of our church, just when the world needs us to witness to the grace and mercy of God.

Yours faithfully,
