Dear friends in Christ,
I hope you are still basking in the glow of Easter! Personally, I’m so deeply grateful for the visible reminder of the Paschal Candle whenever I walk into church. The light of Christ overcomes the darkness of this world.
In a very specific way, I’m thinking this week about how Forward Movement can support you and the whole church in this challenging time. As I write this, our Forward Movement leadership team is gathered in person in Dallas for a few days of meetings. We’re usually dispersed, so it’s a blessing to be together to pray, to laugh, to plan, to problem-solve, and to remember our vision.
We’ve been working out how to integrate some of our recent initiatives with our legacy work. We’re talking on how we should respond to the needs of today’s church in today’s world. Stay tuned, because we’ll have plenty of great new things to share with you in the coming months!
I want to ask you to do two things. First, please pray for Forward Movement, that our work might help grow the church’s ministry and amplify its mission:
We pray Thee, O God, for Thy blessing upon the Forward Movement of Thy Church. Use it, we beseech Thee, to open our eyes to the needs of people for the Gospel of Christ, and to the opportunities that lie before the Church to extend His Kingdom. Stir up, O Lord, the wills of all Thy people to share in this work of gladness of heart and self-sacrificing spirit; and let not our purpose slack until the kingdoms of this world have become the Kingdom of our God and of His Christ. Amen. (Discipleship, 1935)
