Forward Today: God’s great love

February 24, 2026

Dear friends in Christ,

This coming Sunday brings us some pretty famous verses from St. John’s Gospel:

For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son, so that everyone who believes in him may not perish but may have eternal life. Indeed, God did not send the Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.

It’s a good reminder for us in the midst of this Lenten season. Sometimes it’s easy in this frenetic world to lose sight of the most important things.

Everything is about love. The Father sent his Son into this world on a mission of love. This love blazes the path for us to know God in this life and the life to come.

Too often, when Christians are in the news, the public messages are about hatred, division, and judgement. Ironic, isn’t it? The whole point is love, and the church too often offers messages of condemnation.

We can’t control the actions of others, but we can think about our own messages. When we stay reticent, we surrender the public square to the loudest voices. It’s time for all of us who are committed to the gospel of God’s great love to speak up.

God’s love offers purpose and hope. God’s love offers life, now and forever. God’s love is rooted in grace and mercy—something we do well to echo amidst the din and chaos of this world.

Imagine if Christians became known as the people who always point to love.

Yours faithfully,
