Forward Today: Forward Movement is on the move

Dear friends in Christ,

I’m sorry you didn’t receive a Forward Today weekly email last week. I was wrapped up in our semi-annual meeting of the Forward Movement board of directors. For this meeting, we gathered at St. Mark’s Cathedral in Minneapolis. Wow, what a great place that is!

Our board did some of the usual things boards do. We looked at financial reports, talked about budgeting, and checked in on our strategic priorities, among other things. But we also had plenty of time for generative conversation about the needs of the church, for prayer, and for much laughter.

I’m so grateful for the excellent group of leaders who serve on the staff and board of Forward Movement. And I am excited about what’s coming to support your personal journey and your church’s work of making disciples.

  • Look for a free course on the sacraments, coming later this month. This is offered in partnership between Forward Movement and the Presiding Bishop’s staff. Another course on the baptismal promises will follow later this year.
  • We have some new collections of prayers on the way to the printer. We think you’ll find them helpful — for personal and group use.
  • There’s a follow-up to Bible Women on the way. Gospel Women will help us all be inspired by the encounters of Jesus Christ with women of the New Testament and by the women in his family tree. Stay tuned to learn more!
  • The Good Book Club is taking place over the summer, as Forward Movement invites the church to read selections from the epistles of St. Paul.

There’s plenty more that we’re not quite ready to talk about, so I hope you’ll watch for news of great new resources for you and for your church. This is a critical time in the life of the church, and we are aiming to be there to support your journey.

Blessings to you.

Yours faithfully,
