Forward Movement is delighted to partner with the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego in making available a new Advent curriculum that follows Mary on her journey to Bethlehem.
Each year, the season of Advent calls us to quiet our hearts, to look for light in the shadows, and to prepare room for the coming of Christ. Yet each year, it feels challenging to sit in anticipation while the demands of the world chant with increasing fervor. For this, we turn to Mary. Few figures embody waiting, hope, and courage more profoundly than Mary.
Walking with Mary is a 3-week curriculum that offers the invitation to pause and breathe with Mary as she prepares to bear God. Mary stands at the intersection of heaven’s promise and earth’s need. Her story is not only one of miraculous birth but of radical trust.
With each step of the journey from angel’s greeting to the stable’s stillness, from wonder to worship, Mary reveals God’s revolutionary love. Through her words, her silence, her courage, and her song, we see what it means to believe that God is doing something new, even when we cannot yet see it.
We invite you to reflect on her response to God, to be renewed in faith, that your heart may be made ready to receive the Christ who comes to us born in a manger—born to change the world.
This free curriculum was created by the Episcopal Diocese of San Diego. Beginning in November 2026, the curriculum will be available as a free download from Forward Movement. Sign up below to be notified when the curriculum is available.
